Remember the 80's?

The 1980's was the decade that was dominated by the Gardfield Cadets...now known as simply "The Cadets". They led the way to innovative coreography and music styling. What I have posted here is just a clip of their 1983 show. I hope that you enjoy this video and, perhaps, you will get hooked by the drim corps bug.

Enjoy!

Drum and Bugle Corps through the Decades

I thought that I would give you a bit of a flavor into one of my favorite pastimes. Each summer I go to at least one drum corps competition. I guess I'm an addict of sorts. I enjoy the music, the energy, the color guard, well...just everything.

Above in the video is a corps called the Bayonne Bridgemen. This video (both parts) is from 1976. In each successive posting, I will show clips of how this art form has evolved.

Some of what you see above still takes place and some of what you see is now considered outdated. I will not tell you much of what happened because you will be able to see for yourself. It will be a primer for those who never have seen what drum and bugle corps used to be like.

Just thought I'd share a little of what I like with you.

2007 Santa Clara Vanguard

Several weeks ago I posted a video of the 27th Lancers. Since they are no longer in existence, I had to find another corps to root for. It's just the way I am. It took me many many years to decide which one because there were so many great ones out there to follow. Watch the video and I think that you will see that you will see that this is an amazing drum and bugle corps. Eventhough they did not win the world championships last year, they did an outstanding job.

If you are a drum corps fan, let me know what your favorite is and why.

My All-Time Favorite Drum and Bugle Corps

The 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps from Revere, Massachusetts is my all-time favorite corps. They are no longer together in this competitive form. This video shows that last few moments of their competitive existence in 1985. I thought that I would share this with you so that you get a little peak into who I am.
